Piece Story

Yunlong

Cloud Dragon in the Heavens.
The pot body is adorned with deep relief carving throughout; a coiled dragon emerges amidst swirling clouds, its scales and claws partially obscured, with cloud motifs extending across the lid—an embodiment of the "three appearances of the cloud dragon." The bead knob is low-profile, and the loop handle and short spout are understated, ensuring they do not detract from the dragon’s majesty. Tianqing clay is said to originate from the Taixi vein of Huanglong Mountain; its color resembles the sky after rain, enriched with varied mineral particulates, resulting in a warm, lustrous patina and a unique texture. Today, this raw ore is exceptionally rare. Zhou Jia is renowned for his mastery of dragon and phoenix motifs, particularly in his large-scale works—the imposing dragon design is his hallmark, while the calm, deep hue of the Tianqing clay perfectly accentuates this high-relief cloud dragon.
Best for: Pu-erh, Oolong, and Yancha.
Recommended for: Enthusiasts of totem-themed works and those who appreciate the grandeur of deep relief carving.
