A Gourd Containing Fortune.
The pot body is crafted as a spherical globe, full and satisfying to hold; the spout and handle are both carved as old vine branches, while the body is adorned with appliquéd curling leaves and vines, interspersed with small fruits—whether they are gourds or melons is left to the viewer’s imagination. The lid is crowned with a knob shaped like a small, stemmed gourd. The word for "gourd" (hulu) is a homophone for "fortune and prosperity" (fulu), and the winding vines symbolize life that continues forever. The Yucheng Kiln’s aged duan clay resembles the color of autumn millet, with a fine, warm, and moist texture. It has been aged for a long time, resulting in mellow clay properties, a stable body, and ease of seasoning. Chen Honghua is known for his mastery of ribbed patterns and "flower-ware" (naturalistic forms), with his representative work, the "Di Cao Qing Magnolia Pot," being part of the collection at the China National Museum of Women and Children. This piece belongs to the bionic style, featuring a spherical body covered in vines, full of rustic charm.
Brew what: Oolong, white tea, black tea.
Suitable for: Those who appreciate auspicious symbolism and the whimsy of nature-inspired art.

Chen Honghua
Female, born on April 15, 1972, in Yixing, the "Pottery Capital," to a family of Zisha artists. Artistic philosophy: Zisha creation should not be limited to technical and artistic levels, but should incorporate philosophical reflection, with aesthetics following closely behind philosophical thought. Representative honors: "Han Pot" won the Gold Award at the 7th China Ceramics Masters and Masterpieces Exhibition in 2019; "Guaqu Tea Set" won the Silver Award at the 4th Jiangsu Art Expo Cup for Ceramic Innovation in 2015; and she received an Excellence Award in the Intermediate Group at the 2019 "Jiang Rong Cup" Handmade Flower-ware Competition.
